04. Functional Description
A vertical gluing machine (vertical treater) refers to a coating machine where the substrate passes vertically through the drying oven. The fiberglass cloth used in FR-4 copper clad laminate (CCL) production is a plain weave fabric with numerous meshes. The primary advantage of a vertical treater is its ability to ensure uniform resin coating on both sides of the substrate, thereby guaranteeing even resin distribution on both surfaces of the prepreg. Consequently, vertical gluing machines are widely used for coating fiberglass substrates.
A standard vertical gluing machine system typically consists of an unwinder, splicing unit, accumulator, impregnation unit, vertical oven, drive system, web guiding unit, and rewinder. The oven of a standard vertical treater features a dual-pass structure comprising an ascending section and a descending section. The substrate changes direction at the top of the oven via a set of top rollers, transitioning from vertical ascent to vertical descent.
